Yamaha MTX Matrix Works Randomly or Not Correctly
The situation will happen when there is a STEREO source being routed to a MONO zone. It is frustrating because it is random.
Three conditions make this an issue:
- Control4 does not understand there is anything called Mono
- Control4 does not understand that two devices can be playing in a single zone at the same time.
- Yamaha MTX will send a DOUBLE message for each input if it is a STEREO
Since Control4 does not understand that there is a thing called Mono Audio it will assume everything is STEREO and Yamaha is sending double messages Control4 gets REALLY confused and will randomly mute sources that should not be muted. Its probably more random than that -- it just doesn't work right.
You can replicate this bug by using the control-control in Composer to switch between a known stereo source that is being routed to a mono zone and watching what happens on the MTX Matrix page. Sometimes two sources will be left on, sometimes the wrong source will be turned on.. its a completely random what will work and it could work just fine for weeks.
How to Fix
Ignore the EVEN channel inputs of the STEREO inputs that can be routed to MONO zones. That will tell Control4 to ignore the duplicate messages and switching will again work as expected.
